Lyrics

Iris Autumn
Wind blows 'cross her iris garden
deep corn-blue and the smell of earth
Rainclouds travel the violet sky
and Jennifer pauses for you
gathering towers of blue.

Anima Christi (Soul of Christ)
Text from an ancient Latin prayer; origin unknown

Anima Christi, sanctifica me.
Corpus Christi, salva me.
Sanguis Christi, inebria me.
Aqua lateris Christi, lava me.

Agnus Dei ...
Qui tollis peccata mundi,
miserere nobis, conforta me,, exaudi me,, absconde me

Qui tollis peccata mundi, miserere nobis
Qui tollis peccata mundi, dona nobis pacem.

Passio Christi, conforta me.
O bone Iesu, exaudi me.

Translation:
Soul of Christ, sanctify me.
Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me.
Water from the side of Christ, wash me.

Lamb of God ... Who takes away the sins of the world
have mercy on us, strengthen me, hear me,, hide me
Who takes away the sins of the world, have mercy on us.
Who takes away the sins of the world, grant us peace.

Passion of Christ, strenthen me.
O good Jesus, hear me.

Mother's Dream
Lonely is the night when the wind breathes long

yet when solitude sings to me, I'm not alone
and it seems that I know a place I have never been to

How do I enter? Where is the door?
Have I forgotten what I've known before?
lost dream, my home

Twilight when the dream comes, when the wind breathes long
silence on the green lawns
shadows rest on waters calm ...

Lonely is the night when the wind breathes long ...

Oberon's Place
Time floats like a leaf upon cool waters
and drifts away ... where do you go?

Into some sweet mist you go
beyond evening's greenest vales
I believe I would like to follow
can you take me to this place of old?

*i know a bank where the wild thyme blows
where oxlips and nodding violets grow
quite overcanopied with luscious woodbine
with sweet muskroses and with eglantine

Into some sweet mist you go
Into the greenest of vales ... of the evening vales

*excerpt from William Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream"

For Josh
In the light of the moonshine, in a silver meadow
no one sees - I will pray for you

Hasten to my window
are the dark trees whispering
and the chilled breezes listening?
Diamond stars, cold-lit moonlight fall beyond my glass

When I saw you, Josh, were you there in the light
and holding an orb for all to see?
Or were you finding your way lost in a deep green sea?

I thought I heard your voice call to me from far across the sky
and I can hear it moan through wind and treetops
before it flies away, flies away

And when you feel the flames, and when I say an "Ave,"
listen to me, a little nimbus starts to glow!

Sancta Maria, ora pro nobis!**

Though darkness lies, I see starlight fall beyond my glass
snow-white wings will soar there, far past this weary world at last

Fly, fly to the light!
I'll say an "Ave."

**Latin excerpt from "Hail Mary" prayer

Suns Used to Shine
Every time I walk by, I look back on those days

Day was bright and new, nothing seemed amiss
you were my hope
the bright and new, and I knew that I could fly
you were my light

Do you remember days when suns used to shine?

Heavy sadness, nothing can relate
you don't know what you mean to me
above the darkness, beyond the walls of time
my mind goes shooting back to those days

will you come back when you come back home?

Diamond dust, gentle glowing moon, calm starlight
the breeze that flies from the day until the night
cross my mind

Do you remember days when suns used to shine?

Do you remember the time
midsummer crickets echoed like strange bells?
Nights were strange when my heart whispered, "nigh"

My Ship
My ship sets sail today
unfurl the great white sail to the wind
Peace rolls to the harbor, and the journey begins
I see clear, beautiful sunny days ahead

Though gales may blow against us
with your hand, and under God's watchful eyes
we will sail, you and I

Look out o'er the starboard
I see the morning star!
Can you imagine what lies ahead?

We sail towards a pale horizon
where the sun and the sky meet its line
for an unknown harbor in the distance
but we sail still the same
as we start on this journey together
and float on a dream or two.
